I previously posted about the bridal show at Riverview hotel and thought that i would do a short recap. I was there showcasing my actual day photography as well, even if it was really last minute thing, i got information about the event on friday afternoon. Taking into consideration the very tight timeline and not really knowing what to expect, i think the event went pretty well for me.
The bridal show was held at the Lily ballroom on the 4th floor at Riverview Hotel, and most of the couples had already visited the BOWS event held last weekend. I quite liked the fact that there was not a crazy amount of vendors and also a good variety, so wedding couples were not totally bombarded by competitors.
Naturally the couples could sample all kinds of delicacies the hotel kitchen had prepared, and there was a bridal gown show as well. I brought my camera along just in case, and took some shots of the gowns. I’m not following the bridal fashion daily, but from what I say yesterday, I would say that the big dresses are definitely back. Of course fashion and trends are always locally influenced, so something that is popular in Europe or US, might not work here in Singapore. And most brides would not spend the whole day in a big dress, but to change into something more comfortable before the reception.
I have to say I really enjoyed talking with wedding couples at the event. My experience with bridal fairs is that they are big, chaotic and full of hard selling. This was not the case at the Riverview bridal show. Everything was easygoing and I had nice long conversations with potential customers. I got very good feedback for my photography as well. I already knew that my photography is going to be different from the general offerings around Singapore. I think it has to do with the fact that that my cultural background is different, i’m not originally from here, and that i’ve been doing wedding photography for relatively long time already. So it is a mix of experience with vision i suppose. I was very happy with the feedback, at least it’s been now tested that my actual day photography goes well in Singapore too, not just Europe.
Here’s a few shots that i managed to capture at the event.
